Nuts!

Investigators from California and Spain have reviewed data from 25 nut consumption research trials in 7 countries. The results published in last week's Archives of Internal Medicine showed that nut consumption improved blood cholesterol and triglyceride levels in proportion to quantity consumed. Moreover, this effect seemed to be independent of the type of nut consumed. Nut consumption has previously been linked to reduced risk for coronary artery disease. Lowering cholesterol may be an important contributor to this effect.
