Change Ahmadinejad Can Believe In
Our new President's message of weakness has not been lost on our enemies. The barbarians will never like us but they might fear and respect us. Mr. Obama has lost enormous ground in this area, and all it took was two weeks! Leave the pansy talk for the loony leftists on the campaign trail. You are the leader of the free world now. Don't squander what our troops have earned the past 6 years.

Sound the Alarm
Reminding me of the Reagan quip about the futility of expanding government "I'm from the government, and I'm here to help you", the current financial hysteria is providing cover for the socialist engineers intent on taking over the country's health care system.

Strenuous Aging
A Canadian study indicates that 90 minutes of simple aerobic activity-- such as walking -- along with 60 minutes of resistance exercise can help the elderly maintain a healthy metabolism and the ability to remain independent.
Commenting on the study, Professor Robert H. Unger from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas state what is obvious to SL readers "The reason you have muscle is to move around,...not to sit still all your life. And you don't have to be a rocket scientist to figure this out."

MS Halted Without Ethical Retreat
Adult stem cell therapy improves multiple sclerosis (MS). Another stem cell advance that did not require the destruction of human embryos.

Slide Gains Momentum
The era of treatments derived from human embryos begins. The slope gets slipperier. Brace yourself for more and more exploitation of the innocents (unborn) and vulnerable (egg donors).Sunday, January 25, 2009
Let Me be the First to Scoff
Apparently, a report will soon be released fingering a virus as a major cause of the obesity epidemic. The last thing we need is a scape goat for our epidemic of gluttony and sloth.

The last thing we need is a scape goat for our epidemic of gluttony and sloth.OK a virus may help fat cells proliferate, but obesity is primarily the result of too much food down the old pie hole while seeking every opportunity to limit physical exertion.

Here We Go
Here's to all the voters that dismissed the dire predictions of an Obama administration, preferring to revel in the warm and fuzzy feeling of supporting a media darling...the nightmare has begun.

Conservatives Continue to do Heavy Lifting
Time and time again analyses have shown that conservatives are far more generous than liberals when donating to charities. This truth is again reiterated in a WSJ piece today by Arthur C. Brooks.
Before you protest, claiming that this is due to conservatives being richer, these statistics hold even when accounting for income. Rather, it is the natural consequence of differing worldviews. The more conservative worldview is that of accountability. To self and to others. The liberal worldview centers on an entitlement mentality. I am, therefore I deserve more.
Keep up the good work conservatives. Strenuous living and strenuous giving.

And, Behind the Scene
Thankfully, the mainstream media coronation (or was it a canonization?) is over even though the honeymoon may never end. Nevertheless, conservatives can now get down to vigorously resisting Obama policy. High on the list is protecting marriage, the bedrock of Western society which is squarely in the Obama administration cross-hairs.
Yesterday, while everyone was making happy on the Washington Mall, Obama minions took advantage of the Evangelical good will and cover provided by Pastor Rick Warren to begin their work in dismantling the wildly popular Defense of Marriage Act. This law passed in 1996 (House Y 342, N 67; and Senate Y 85, N 10) protects individual States from having to buckle under to Federal powers which would enforce misguided pro-homosexual legislation devised in other States.
Immediately after taking office the following appeared on the new White House website,
"Obama also believes we need to repeal the Defense of Marriage Act..." It also stated that “President Obama believes that we must ensure adoption rights for all couples and individuals, regardless of their sexual orientation,” and that “He thinks that a child will benefit from a healthy and loving home, whether the parents are gay or not,”
That's change alright, but change very few believe in.

Inspired Truth on Inauguration Day
My sister-in-law forwarded this you-tube video from CatholicVote.org. The ultrasonagraphy is magnificent, but the message even more profound.
When truth is effectively revealed, it cuts through BS like a laser beam. This video does just that while maintaining the proper dignity and respect for the new President on his inauguration day.
We should continue to pray for his conversion of heart, while battling tooth and nail at every opportunity to block his administration's attempts to further degrade and destroy innocent human life.

Muscular Christians
I would be remiss if I did not recognize three outstanding Christian sportsmen who have been in the news of late. Indeed, they have risen to the top of their sport while unashamedly proclaiming their Christian faith. Tony Dungey (Recently retired coach of the Indianapolis Colts), Kurt Warner (Quarterback of the NFC Champion Arizona Cardinals), and Tim Tebow (National Championship and Heisman Trophy winning Quarterback). This masculine strength of body and character is a rare commodity in today's ever compromising society.
The SL wishes each of these men continued success in their vocations and Christian witness, and heavan's protection from the evil and temptations that will undoubtedly stalk them in the future.

Black Clouds Ahead for Pro-Life Professonals?
Wesley J. Smith has chronicled his dire predictions for bio-ethics in 2009 for the CBC Network. There are many troublesome forces coming to bear upon our country with the incoming Obama administration. Not the least of which will be the attempt to coerce Hippocratic Oath abiding medical professionals to participate in the 21st century barbarism.
"One of the great bioethical battles in the coming years will be whether medical professionals who do not wish to be complicit in life-ending activities such as abortion or assisted suicide will be driven out of health care."

Obesity a National Security Threat?
Maj. Gen. Thomas Bostick, head of the Army Recruiting Command, told The Associated Press that obesity looms as "a bigger challenge for us in the years ahead" than any other problem that keeps young people from entering the military.

More Bad News for Generation D
A study reported at the recent American Heart Association Meetings in New Orleans suggested that the neck arteries of obese children and teens are as thick (i.e. diseased) as those of adults in their mid 40's. The couch potato and snack food generation is headed for health care disaster with obesity, diabetes and cardiovascular disease paving the way.

It's Not the Pledge, It's the Training
It comes as no surprise to SL readers that teens benefit from a more conservative and religious home and social environment. Indeed, when considering the findings from a recent study on teen pre-marital sexual activity Dr. Bernadine Healy, the former head of the National Institutes of Health, pointed out the differences are striking.
William McGurn at the WSJ aptly summarizes,
"For these parents, the good news here is that the striking behavioral differences between the average American teen and the two teen groups in this study show that homes and families still exert a powerful influence."

Patriots, Not Victims
A holiday reminder, courtesy of Karl Rove in the WSJ.
"...the Seal had scrawled that visitors shouldn't 'feel sorry' for him. 'The wounds I received,' he wrote, 'I got in a job I love, doing it for people I love, supporting the freedom of a country I deeply love. I am incredibly tough.' And on his sign he promised 'a full recovery' and wrote that his hospital room was a place of 'fun, optimism, and intense rapid regrowth. If you are not prepared for that, GO ELSEWHERE.' He signed it 'The Management.'"
These guys are not victims of "George Bush's War" like the radical left would have you to believe. They are patriots and proud of it. This year take some time to remember those doing the dirty work so we can live in safety, comfort and prosperity.
