Strenuous Living Reduces Breast Cancer Risk
Researchers followed over 32,000 post-menopausal women in the United States for 11 years, monitoring them for physical activity and the development of breast cancer. They found that non-overweight women who participated in 1.2 hours per day of vigorous physical activity were at a significantly lesser risk for breast cancer. Vigorous activity included such things as heavy housework and/or yard work, competitive tennis, running, bicycling on hilly terrain, aerobics and other fast dancing.

Cursor Letter to the Explorer
Vote ‘yes,’ and settle marriage definition forever
I am surprised to see that on October 8th The Explorer devoted a full editorial to the issue before us on November 4th to define marriage in Arizona. After all, in the same article you stated that this question should be “off the ballot, for good,” because “there are more pressing matters before us.”
Indeed, binding one man to one woman legally, economically, and spiritually through marriage has been the foundation of Western Civilization for over 1,000 years, so the definition should be obvious, right? Unfortunately, this is not the case for a small minority intent on dismantling marriage and triggering a devastating social upheaval, all the while wagging their fingers and hurling epithets of bigotry and divisiveness at those of us dedicated to protecting this cornerstone institution. Now, since we have refused to back down from this intimidation and misrepresentation, they (along with The Explorer) are trying to lull us to sleep with the bogus argument that marriage is protected by Arizona statute.
Interesting … if the marriage issue is already settled by Arizona law, then why on earth are the opponents of Proposition 102 terrified of the simple statement “only a union of one man and one woman shall be valid or recognized as a marriage in this state?” Well, it’s because this little bit of subterfuge regarding the adequacy of state statutes worked out just fine for them in Connecticut earlier this month. Since marriage was not explicitly defined in the Connecticut state constitution, the door was open for elitist judges to decide what was best for the less sophisticated people of that state. They did them the favor by overturning their quaint little law defining marriage as the union of one man and one woman.
Activists in our state would love to do us the same favor, just as long as Prop 102 does not get in their way. We did not pick this fight, but the majority of Arizonans should stand up and settle this issue “for good.” It is as easy as voting Yes on 102, November 4th.

Physical Activity for the Brain and Soul
This comes as no surprise to me, but researchers from Finland have reported in the journal Exercise and Science in Sports and Exercise that sedentary behavior in adolescents (less than 1 hour per week of moderate to vigorous activity) was associated with emotional and behavioral problems. Symptoms displayed by physically inactive teenagers included anxiety, withdrawal, depression, sleep abnormalities and difficulties paying attention. The study involved more than 7000 school boys and girls.

Flailing at Palin
Noonan has particularly lost her moorings when it comes to Governor Sarah Palin. I’m not sure why Mrs. Palin irks her so, but it has been palpable since the Republican convention. Evidently, she doesn’t measure up for Noonan in style points. Is it because she winked to America during the Vice-Presidential debate? Certainly, Governor Palin doesn’t display the hollow sophistication of the secluded Washington – New York elites, or the arrogance of many of our college professors, and she has little use for the self-aggrandizing non-sense of Hollywood. Instead, she is the feminine personification of genuiene Americanism which is new to our political stage, and yet not unlike the American masculinity exuded by Presidents Ronald Reagan and Teddy Roosevelt. Inexplicably, Noonan claims “there is little sign that she has the tools, the equipment, the knowledge or the philosophical grounding one hopes for, and expects, in a holder of high office”, and insinuates that Palin lacks direction and core-beliefs other than in her own ambition. Apparently, promoting (and living) a culture of life, limited government, and a foreign policy that puts American interests first, and doing so with magnatism and vitality, is not good enough? Reagan would be surprised, especially when these core-principles are directly contrasted to Obama’s cold and calculated utilitarian disdain for human life, his cynical domestic agenda of class warfare and wealth redistribution, and his naive “citizen of the world” first foreign policy.
Peggy Noonan can no longer be taken seriously as a voice for conservatism. She is not the same writer that helped craft the Reagan message a generation ago. Indeed, over the last year or so her work has become increasingly hostile to what Americans value most, grit, courage, and authenticity (i.e. substance over style and fluff).

Sure it would have been better if Mrs. Palin had a few more years under her belt running the State of Alaska. But, we are not comparing her to Winston Churchill. She is running with John McCain against Barack Obama who has absolutely no history of accomplishment. Nothing, naught, zilch. The only thing he has ever accomplished is to carefully align himself with the Chicago political machine who skillfully maneuvered him into a U.S. Senate seat. Since that time he has been too busy running for President and being the Messiah of all things Left to actually accomplish anything. Palin by contrast has been governing, standing up to a corrupt political system, and advancing our nations’ energy interests. Moreover, she has given conservatives a reason to vote for the Republican ticket and more importantly hope that even if the Obama fiasco is fully realized in his election this Fall that we have up-coming conservative stars waiting in the wings to clean up the mess.

Joe the Game Changer?
If John McCain wins the election in three weeks it will be because Sarah Palin kept his campaign alive long enough for Joe the plumber to come onto the seen. Joe is the guy from Ohio who challenged Barack Obama on the campaign trail last week about his plan to increase taxes on small business owners like himself. Obama in a rare moment of candor acknowledged that he would indeed like to redistribute Joe's hard earned income. As a result Joe instantaneously changed the terms of the economic debate from the Democrats' war on the rich, to their insatiable desire to take control of every regular Joe's income to use as they see fit. Indeed, Joe was referenced several times in tonight's presidential debate, and this was not to Obama's benefit.
Unfortunately, Joe will need to watch his back between now and November 4th. You remember that army of Democrat operatives that just finished looking under every rock in Wasila Alaska to no effect? Well they are on the way to Ohio. You cannot threaten the chosen one and expect to come out of it unscathed.

Stem Cells Without the Use of Viruses or Human Embryos
Investigators from Kyoto University report today that they have been successful in coaxing non-embryonic cells into pluripotent stem cells without the use of viruses (which are thought to increase the risk of cancer). In other words, this emerging technology may open up an avenue to convert a patient's own cells, even easily obtainable skin cells, and transform them into versatile stem cells. Moreover, it is becoming readily apparent that destroying human embryos is no longer necessary unless you are a utilitarian dogmatist in need of a bludgeoning device to punish the rest of us who are reluctant to go along with a science at any moral cost agenda.

More Non-Embryo Derived Embryonic-Like Stem Cells
Researchers in Germany have transformed human testicular cells into cells with very similar capabilities to embryonic stem cells. That is the ability to transform into multiple cell types if given appropriate signals in culture. The hits just keep coming. Indeed, one stem cell expert commenting on the study to WebMD noted that "We have plenty of adult stem cells that seem to be very promising for future treatments..." Hopefully, we can put this whole idea that cures will only come as a result of sacrificing embryonic human life to rest once and for all.

Support for Prop 101
Len Munsil makes the case for Arizona Prop 101 at PolitickerAZ.com.
"At least with respect to health care, we have a chance this November to prevent the 'Hillary-care' style governmental takeover of our health care system in Arizona by supporting Proposition 101, 'The Freedom of Choice in Health Care Act.'”
It is amazing how the only choice the left is interested in is the choice to snuff out unborn children. Then again, they might not even allow you that choice if you are a pro-life woman running for Vice-President who chooses to keep her child with Down Syndrome.

YesForMarriage on November 4th
http://www.yesformarriage.com/
It is sad that we find ourselves in a position where we are compelled to define marriage, the foundation of Western society for centuries. Unfortunately, this is where activist judges and radical social engineers have put us. Thankfully, the definition of marriage in the State of Arizona is still in our hands as long as we take action on November 4th.

What is Behind the Current Financial Crisis?
Economist Thomas Sowell describes the root causes of the current financial crisis in the most clear and concise terms available on the web to date. Unfortunately, this message has not penetrated the mainstream media's filter, and the GOP (including McCain) having lost their nerve refuse to present the case to the American people.

"Party of Death"
St. Louis Archbishop Raymond Burke laments the moral decline of a once great American political party. He is particularly critical of supposed Catholic politicians such as Nancy Pelosi and Joe Biden who actively promote abortion on demand while deliberately misleading others among the faithful regarding the Church's stand on life issues.
