Sarah Palin Scandal!

For all of you that arrived at this website by googling "Sarah Palin scandal" you've been had. Go back under your rocks and let democracy run its course. I am confident the more the American people become acquainted with Governor Palin the more compelling they will find her story and the more excited they will be to support the GOP ticket. I also have no doubt that Obama campaign "researchers" and other lefty blogosphere kooks know this as well as anyone and are working around the clock for any sniff of an item they can twist and distort into a “breaking story” that might smear this remarkable woman and even her family. Unfortunately, people’s lives and reputations are nothing when measured against their radical agendas. Certainly they dusted off their Clarence Thomas playbooks the moment they knew what they were up against. Nothing causes them to lose bowel control the way a strong conservative minority or woman will. Fortunately, with today's ubiquitous Internet the ability of an alert citizenry to expose these efforts for what they are is far superior to what could be done for Justice Thomas in 1991.

Embryonic Cells Not Necessary

Researchers from the Howard Hughes Medical Institute have reported that they have converted adult cells into insulin-producing cells in mice. This remarkable accomplishment was achieved by introducing three genes into non-insulin producing pancreatic cells thereby reprogramming them to look and behave like the insulin producing beta cells. “What this shows is that you can go directly from one type of adult cell to another, without going back to the beginning,” said Douglas A. Melton, a Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI) investigator. In other words, there is no need to create and destroy embryos to realize our goals to rehabilitate pancreas tissue in diabetic patients.

Colorado Bishops Set Record Straight

The Catholic Church has always considered abortion to be a great evil. Nevertheless, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi purposely deceived believers and non-believers alike by suggesting that the Church remains undecided on this issue. Since Pelosi does not seem inclined to repent of this deception perhaps it's time the Bishop of San Francisco consider excommunication?

Olympian Common Sense

Male athletes are bigger, faster and stronger than female athletes. Duh...you're thinking. But suggesting innate differences between the sexes in a gathering of bio-deniers will likely put your well-being at significant risk. Google Lawrence Summers.
As the Olympics wind down it remains as obvious as ever that the times, distances, and weights lifted and thrown by men are superior to those of women. How much greater is their performance? Todd Gallagher put together a fascinating table for his August 22nd National Review Online article entitled Olympian Political Correctness which is shown below. Interestingly, world record performances by women are most comparable to those of 14-15 year old boys!

Don't get me wrong strenuous activity is as important for the health of girls and young ladies as for boys. Moreover, female vs. female athletic events can be compelling and dramatic as evidenced by the recent women's Olympics gymnastics finals. But, let's not fall into the politically correct trap of suggesting that women can compete against men at the highest levels of physical exertion.

Bryant Proud to be an American

Kobe Bryant a patriot? American exceptionalism on display with the "Redeem Team?" Who woulda thunk it? I have never been a Kobe Bryant fan, but he gave the best Olympic interview to date when he sat down with NBC commentator Chris Collinsworth last week. During the interview he demonstrated a remarkable maturity and insight not normally associated with NBA stars. Now if we could only say the same about a few more college professors, Hollywood celebrities, and oh yeah... Democratic presidential candidates.

“Well, you know, it's just our country …the greatest country in the world. It's given us so many great opportunities, and it's just a sense of pride that you have, that you say, "You know what? Our country is the best." -Kobe Bryant

Obesity and the Wussification of America

Can you believe it? There are actually schools in the United States that forbid running on the playground! Phillip K. Howard argues in this week’s WSJ that overprotected children become fat children. “The headlong drive for safety has indeed created dangers, but not those identified by the safety zealots.” Indeed, the wussification of America has been well under way for at least a decade, remarkably parallel to the rise in childhood obesity. These phenomenon are likely due to the convergence of multiple factors not the least of which are the Left’s continual push toward a nanny state, smaller families where the precious 2.2 children are coddled and overprotected, more women working outside the home necessitating regimented child care programs, and the ubiquity of trial lawyers. Ironically, with previous generations an army of stay-at-home mothers patrolled neighborhoods and children were allowed to run and play to their hearts’ content, sometimes from sun-up until sundown. No more. Now, even if your kids are home and encouraged to “go out and play” the other kids are enrolled in “safe” after-school programs or sequestered indoors with their X-box until Mom gets home. Scrapes, bruises and strenuous living should be part of growing up, whereas wussification produces overweight 30-something adolescents.

Chilling Prospect

The Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) was wildly popular with Americans everywhere, red state and blue state, when it was passed in 1996. It was created in response to a spate of homosexual activist attempts to disassemble the institution of marriage. Now we have a major party candidate promising to repeal the law and to fight to legitimize any number of counterfeit "marriage" arrangements.

CNSNews.com reports "The 'pride' section of the Obama campaign Web site reads: 'Obama also believes we need to fully repeal the Defense of Marriage Act and enact legislation that would ensure that the 1,100+ federal legal rights and benefits currently provided on the basis of marital status are extended to same-sex couples in civil unions and other legally-recognized unions."

The candidate of change indeed.
