Male Without Consequences

This triple tragedy is a microcosm of the whole abortion debate. It reveals the complete nonsense that supporting abortion rights is “pro-woman.” In reality, women and children are harmed most by the culture of death so hysterically promoted by radical feminists and social liberals, and passively supported by well meaning but soft headed individuals who fancy themselves as compassionate. These people do nothing more than enable scum like “Ben”, who are no longer held accountable for their actions.

Proud to be an American

Here is just another example of America’s greatness. The United States Navy is performing the 21st century hi-tech equivalent of Babe Ruth's "called shot", by naming the what, where, when and general how of an operation to bring down a decaying satellite that would otherwise dangerously fall to Earth. Indeed, the United States of America is the most technologically advanced, powerful, open, and yes moral country on the face of the Earth. Moreover, it has been that for at least a century. Of course you can never allow that sentiment to seep into your psyche if you are trying to win the Democratic presidential nomination, can you Michelle Obama?

Romney Still a Factor?

Mitt Romney won the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) Presidential straw pole today despite dropping out of the race earlier this week. This highlights a couple important factors that remain in play, 1.) McCain still has much work to do in convincing conservatives that he is worthy of more than tepid support from here on, and 2.) Romney remains the standard bearer for Reagan conservativism. While Romney was willing to put the good of the Party above personal ambition by withdrawing early (some think too early) from the race, it remains to be seen whether Mr. McCain will do what is best, not only for the GOP, but the country by genuinely embracing Reagan conservatism in his campaign against the Democratic nominee. Naming Romney as his running mate before the convention would be a convincing indicator of his intentions and gesture of good will toward conserviative voters.

Culture Makes All the Difference

The SL is disappointed that Mitt Romney, the last conservative standard bearer has withdrawn from the 2008 presidential race. Yet, SL salutes his outstanding message to CPAC yesterday as he sets his sights on 2012. Interestingly, his theme which is introduced in the excerpt below provides a stark contrast to recent comments from across the pond.

"Over the years, my business has taken me to many countries. I have been struck by the enormous differences in the wealth and well-being of people of different nations. I have read a number of scholarly explanations for the disparities. I found the most convincing was that written by David Landes, a professor emeritus from Harvard University. I presume he's a liberal–I guess that's redundant. His work traces the coming and going of great civilizations throughout history. After hundreds of pages of analysis, he concludes with this: If we learn anything from the history of economic development, it is that culture makes all the difference. Culture makes all the difference."

Juxtapose this against recent comments from David Rowan, Archbiship of Canterbury of all people. Inexplicably, Rowan, argued that Islamic Sharia and Parliamentary law should be given equal legal status. Thankfully, this raised a firestorm of criticism across Britian. Yet, most of the arguments against Rowan's hair brained idea settled on the fact that it would be difficult to live under two competing legal systems. Not that the Sharia is oppressive and barbaric, and that Judeo-Christian Western culture has proven its vast superiority in promoting human progress and dignity over the past 500 years.

This is Revealing

Apparently Republicans for "Choice" believe Mitt Romney intends to pursue a Pro-Life policies and a strict constructionist judiciary if elected President.

Man Who Tended Rockne Site Laid to Rest Today

On March 31, 1931 Easter Heathman, 13 years old, witnessed the crash of Flight 599 near his family's Kansas farm. He was soon to learn that the tragic event had taken the life of Notre Dame's legendary coach Knute Rockne and 7 others. Heathman maintained a memorial on the site and devoted much of his time the past two decades giving tours to crash site visitors. Heathman will be buried today after a bout of pneumonia ended his life earlier this week at age 90. More
