Subsidizing Obese Flyers

The Canadian government has ordered two airlines to give morbidly obese passengers an extra free seat on domestic flights.

A continued escalation in the number of obese citizens is what we can expect if governments mandate that businesses accommodate, at their own expense, expanding customer waistlines. Of course, it will be the rest of society that will shoulder the increased expense not only for such things as airfares, but the resulting health care costs associated with obesity. Subsidizing poor decisions will only lead to more people making poor decisions.

Shouldn't the people who maintain a healthy weight be rewarded? I propose that airlines give a rebate to passengers who weigh in under 200 lbs, even more if they are less than 150 lbs. This makes much more sense than what Canada is imposing upon airlines.
