Nearly on his death bed and in a "drug induced fog" Todd Starnes pledges to " lose weight, to start exercising and to run the New York City Marathon." Now, over 100 lbs and 6 months of training later he is prepared to give it a shot.Tuesday, October 23, 2007

I Do Not Seek, Nor Will I Accept...
...a Nobel Prize.
If Al Gore can win a Nobel Prize for his nonsense the award is absolutely worthless. Therefore, Cursor withdraws his name from any further consideration. The Nobel Committee has cheapened the awards of all previous recipients. Well maybe not Yasir Arafat.

Happy Columbus Day!I bet you will not hear much of that today. Columbus Day, although a federal holiday, has become one of the most politically incorrect of all days. When I was in grade school this day was celebrated by stories of the wondrous voyage that, like nothing else of that age, changed the world. It opened up the “New World” to what eventually culminated in the greatest nation, people and system of government the world has ever known. Certainly, Columbus had a glimpse of the magnitude or his endeavor. It was not about conquest, pillage and domination as poltically correct doctrine preaches today.
"…the signs are that the Lord is hastening the end. The fact that the gospel must still be preached to so many lands in such a short time, this is what convinces me."
Christopher Columbus
But alas, Columbus has become the whipping boy of those who are fixated on destroying what generations of Americans have built. Was there pain, suffering and injustice along the way? Absolutely. Was this an aberration in the history of man? As long as sinful humans are in the equation there will be unspeakable evils to contend with. Yet, the hand of God was directing the culmination of events to fulfill his purpose. His purpose was to allow this experiment in freedom so that the world could get a glimpse of what he had in mind for us all along. An existence where free-will and heroic endeavors would be possible, and where true charity could abound if only the human spirit were released from the tyranny of oppressive governments and rulers. We should be learning more about our wonderful Godly heritage rather than succumbing to the relentless pressure by the left to deny and distort our history.

Don't Insult Them with Your Compassion
Re-enlisting Marine
Even more annoying is the blathering mock pity doled out daily by the left. Our warriors are not heroic because they are victims. They are heros because of what they do and how they do it. They do not want to be loved. They want to be able to do their job and be respected for it. Their immense pride and professional attitude is nicely captured in the excerpt from the perceptive article appearing in today’s WSJ Online by Robert D. Kaplan.
"As one battalion commander complained to me, in words repeated by other soldiers and marines: 'Has anyone noticed that we now have a volunteer Army? I'm a warrior. It's my job to fight.' Every journalist has a different network of military contacts. Mine come at me with the following theme: We want to be admired for our technical proficiency--for what we do, not for what we suffer. We are not victims. We are privileged."

Phony Senators
Undoubtedly, anyone logging onto the Internet has seen the absurd attack of Rush Limbaugh by Senate Democrats claiming that Rush slandered our troops when he pointed out that leftists posing as former soldiers have criticized the United States military in a variety of forums including You-tube. Not even considering the blatant misrepresentation of his comments it should raise eye brows when such accusations are applied to someone who has supported our troops as much as any public figure the past two decades. His immense popularity with the troops is evidenced by his devoted audience tuning in on the Armed Forces Radio Network. Oh, get this, phony former presidential candidate Wesley Clark has asked Congress to remove the Rush Limbaugh program from Armed Forces Radio in response to the Democrat's trumped up accusations. Arizona Senator John Kyl captured the essence of the situation perfectly. “It’s troubling that some Democrats have taken a comment by Rush Limbaugh about “phony soldiers” totally out of context in order to find some moral equivalence to get them off the hook for refusing to condemn the MoveOn.org 'Petraeus' ad," he said. “The only thing phony about this is the contrived controversy."

More Good News on the Adult Stem Cell Horizon
Investigators at Massachusetts General Hospital were able to treat liver disease in rats by injecting stem cells from the bone marrow. Continued success in humans might provide an alternative or bridge to liver transplants in patients with severe liver disease. And get this …no human embryos required.
